This July we’re bringing you a classic Italian bread. Ciabatta originated in the Veneto region of Italy in 1982, it was developed by Italian bakers to compete with the popularity of French baguettes. It has a super moist and flavourful crumb with a perfectly chewy crust, making it ideal for sandwiches, dipping, appetizers, and charcuterie boards.
This bread is a long fermentation (24 hour) bread that provides a lot of the same health benefits as sourdough, without the sourdough “tang”. We use an extremely small quantity of yeast, and the bread rises over 24 hours at room temperature. During that time, the gluten in the flour is broken down, allowing for easier digestion and great flavour!
