Stollen is a classic German Christmas cake that originated in Dresden in the 15th century. The earliest versions of Stollen consisted only of flour, oats, and water, as the use of oil and butter was forbidden during the Advent season. When the restrictions were lifted in the 17th century, Stollen evolved to become the holiday classic it is today: a sweet bread-like cake often filled with dried fruits, citrus peels, marzipan, and finished with rum or liqueurs to punch up the flavour.

Our German-born head baker brings this traditional recipe with him, which features plump raisins and currants, a sweet marzipan stick, and Appleton Estate Jamaican Rum. Baked in a traditional Stollen pan and finished with powdered sugar, this Stollen is guaranteed to be a showstopper on your holiday table. Choose from two sizes – Large and Mini.
