Kouign Amann

The Kouign Amann is a traditional French pastry, originating from the Breton region.  It’s still relatively new to North Americans, having been popularized in New York by famed patissier Dominique Ansel in 2011.  This folded delicacy is similar to a croissant dough rolled in sugar then baked in a cylinder pan creating a sweet caramelized crust with pillowy buttery layers inside.  Also available with a cherry filling.
